#1. Run a 5K

Finally, after a year of talking about it...and a month and a half of actually training for it...I ran my first 5K. I'm going to call it a success, even though I wish I had finished a little faster. My official time was 32.30 minutes. Not too bad for my first attempt at any kind of athleticism...ever. I finished...and that was really the goal for the first one.

I suprisingly started to enjoy running. I am planning to run another 5K at the end of May, and then start training for a 10K. That may be a little ambitious, but I think I can do it.

The 5K was so fun. It was a fundraiser for Laura's track team at DBU. I love that I got to run my first 5K with my favorite people!

And can you believe it? We all placed in our divisions! Those are not certificates of participation...those are actual awards!

Even John's mom participated...and got 3rd place in her division.

Look Dad...aren't you proud? You didn't know you raised such athletic girls, did you?

Now that I can cross the 5K off my list, and I picked up running as a new hobby, I have a few goals in mind:

April 2010 Take the leap and buy a real pair of running shoes. I figure it I spend that much money on a pair of shoes, I won't be likely to quit on the hobby anytime soon.
May 29th Fireman's 5K in Fort Worth
Goal: Run it in under 30 minutes and get that I-pod John promised me
Sept. 2010 Run my first 10K

Hold me to these! I need some accountability. Especially in the hot summer months to come. I have a feeling it might be a little tough to run in July in Texas. Treadmill here I come!
